Should I get my Haircut before my Session?

Men should be clean shaven or facial hair should be carefully groomed, with their hair cut about one week before the portrait session. Women shold be photographed whenever they are happiest with their hair in relation to the time it is styled. Hair must be styled and ready prior to your session.

What kind of top should I wear for my headshot?

For close-up portraits, long sleeves are essential, as bare arms call attention to themselves and will overpoer the face. Long-sleeved garments in medium to dark tones of brown, gray, burgandy, green, blue, or black are pleasing choices.

Should I wear stripes?

As always the choice is yours, however bold stripes, plaids, checks, and prints are visually confusing and do not photograph well.

What about spaghetti straps?

Bare shoulders or tops with "spaghetti straps" often make the subject look heavier and take the eye away form the face.

What do I wear for the rest of my portraits?

What we call informal portraits invite much more variety in clothing and style. This is where you want to wear your bright colors, stripes, etc. If you're not sure bring extra outfits, and we'll help you choose!

Can I bring my pet?

Yes. You are more than welcome to bring your cat or dogs. No reptiles are allowed.

Hobbies, Musical Instruments, Sports, Collections, Hunting Trophies or Equipment

Bring whatever you have to express yourself and your world. Whatever makes you you! Give us a call on your plans and we can create a wonderul setting for your unique portrait.

What should I wear for my outdoor portraits?

Bring casual outfits that will blend with natural outdoor settings. Earth tones are an excellent choice. Also remember that simple styles photograph the best. You are more than welcome to bring your car bike, or motorcycle.

What if I have skin problems?

Don't worry if you develop a skin problem. Our finished portraits are fully retouched to eliminate blemishes and soften harsh lines. If you would like to wear a concealer or powder to cover any blemishes the will be less noticeable in your proofs. We do not retouch proofs.

How shold I wear my make-up?

Makup can affect the way your portrait looks. Both fresh, natural makeup or "evening" makeup photograph well. If you do not normally wear make-up consider a light powder and gloss to enhance your portraits.

Who should come with me to my session?

Bring a parent or adult with you for your session. You will see the your proofs the day of your session to make sure we have created the portraits you want.
